その昔、ＥＬＰやクリムゾンの英国盤はアイランドレコードから発売されていた。
レゲエを世界に広めたクリスブラックウェルが設立したレーベルなのだけど、
かつてはロックも熱心に売っていた。そのスタジオだったのがアイランドスタジオ。
教会を改装した建物。リストにジェネシスやキャメルの名が見えるが、
特筆すべきはレッドツエッペリンＩＶ。あの「天国への階段」はオリンピックスタジオではなくここで録音されていたのだ。

「ドゥ・ゼイ・ノウ・イッツ・クリスマス」バンドエイドも
ミュージシャンがここに集結しての録音。現在はSarm West Studios
と呼ばれていてオーナーは元バグルズのトレバーホーン。若いミュージシャンのために
億単位の金をかけて改修しているとのこと。
