It has been 10 years since we first saw Flying Foxes at Minamidaito-jima
at the end of 1988. They are the masters of the night sky ,have big eyes
and are plump and furry. They are so cute that we find them attractive
enough to have visited more than 20 islands on as many as 40 occasions
to watch them. In some islands local people want development to prevent
human depopulation, and we are afraid that if this is the wrong sort of
development it will badly affect the Flying Foxes. We hope that these fascinating
creatures could bring eco-tourism to the islands.
